How to organize your job search with ChatGPT and Parcel

Keep each role, the work you prepare, and the next conversation together while you choose what to save and what to do next.

This guide follows one Job from a posting to interview preparation. You can use the prompts as a starting point and change them to fit your search.

Before you begin

Create your Parcel account and sign in. Install the Parcel plugin on ChatGPT, then review the access requested and approve only the access you want to give. You can find setup instructions in Connections.

You can also add and edit your saved work directly on the Parcel website.

1. Add a little background

Your Career Profile gives your assistant a place to find your experience and skills. Start with a conversation or an existing Resume; you can add more later.

Option 1: Talk through your experience. Ask ChatGPT to interview you about your career and help organize your answers.

“Interview me about my career, experience and skills. Help me organize my answers and ask what I would like to save to my Parcel Career Profile.”

Option 2: Start with a PDF Resume. Share your existing PDF Resume with ChatGPT and ask it to add the relevant contents to your Career Profile.

“Use my attached PDF Resume to prepare my Parcel Career Profile. Show me the details you found and ask me to review them before saving.”

Review the details before saving them. You can also record Job Preferences, such as where you want to work and what matters in your next role.

2. Save a role you are considering

Share a job posting with ChatGPT and ask it to add the Job to Parcel. Keep the posting and source with that Job so you can return to the actual requirements later.

“I am considering this role. Save it as a Job in Parcel and keep the job posting with it. Let me know if any details are missing.”

Open the Job in Parcel to check what was saved. You can add a Job manually if you prefer.

3. Research and decide what matters

Ask your assistant to research the company and compare the role with your preferences. Keep the findings and questions you want to revisit with the Job.

“Research this company and save the useful findings and sources with this Job. Then help me compare the role with my Job Preferences, including any tradeoffs I should consider.”

Use the results to support your own decision. Check sources and correct anything that does not reflect your priorities.

4. Prepare and review your documents

Use your Career Profile and the posting to prepare a Resume and Cover Letter for the role. Ask for a draft, then review the details and edit them until they say what you want to say.

“Using my Career Profile and this posting, help me prepare a Resume for this Job. Ask before adding details that are not in my experience.”

Save the version you want to keep in Parcel, then download it when you are ready. Downloading a document does not submit an application.

5. Get ready for the conversation

When an interview is coming up, bring your research and experience together. Save the examples you want to discuss and the questions you want to ask.

“Help me prepare for an interview for this Job. Use my saved research and experience to suggest Talking Points, and help me practice explaining them.”

Return to the Job for your saved preparation. You can continue with your assistant or make changes directly on the website.

Your search, your decisions

Parcel keeps your job search organized, with your research, documents and preparation together for each Job. Your assistant helps you work with them. You decide what to save, what to change and when to apply.
